Benefits of AEMA Membership

AEMA membership is comprised of manufacturer and associate members. A Manufacturer Member is any person, firm, or corporation involved in the manufacture of accessibility equipment. An Associate Member is any person, firm or corporation with an interest in the accessibility equipment industry.

As an AEMA member, you gain a competitive edge in your market place. How? By being part of an organization that works on your behalf, ensuring the accessibility equipment industry is accurately and professionally represented to those who specify, purchase and use accessibility equipment. You also receive these additional benefits:

Regular updates on Codes and Standards issues: the AEMA Codes, Standards & Safety Committee is actively involved in many code committees on behalf of its members:

  • Safety Codes (A17.1, A18.1 and B355)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADDAG)
  • Usability Codes (A117)
  • Model Building Codes
  • State/Provincial Codes
  • National Electrical Code
  • and more

Issues surrounding these codes and standards affect your day-to-day business in the accessibility industry.

An industry knowledge base that is second-to-none: The cumulative knowledge of our membership provides you with access to over a decade of industry knowledge. As an Associate or Manufacturer member, you can tap into the AEMA network for support and solutions to accessibility challenges in your area.

Ongoing education that keeps you “in the know”: AEMA holds a variety of accessibility-related training seminars on a regular basis, in conjunction with other associations and groups. Seminar dates and content outlines are posted to the AEMA web site on a regular basis.

Access to industry data: AEMA actively collects, analyzes and distributes industry information that affects key decisions regarding accessibility product development and enhancements.

Business leads through aema.com: The AEMA web site generates business inquiries from across North America – many of which result in accessibility product sales.

Accessibility News – the official newsletter of AEMA. AEMA provides members with up-to-date information on industry news and events.

A voice in the industry: At least once a year, AEMA members are invited to attend Board of Director and Working Committee meetings at various locations across North America. These meetings give members an opportunity to learn how decisions are made and provide feedback on issues that affect their involvement in AEMA and the accessibility industry.

AEMA & You

AEMA representatives volunteer valuable time to make a difference in the accessibility industry and represent its membership in a professional manner. In turn, members like you contribute to the preservation of AEMA by helping fund representative expenses such as travel costs for code & regulatory meetings and AEMA education & training presentations.
AEMA representatives meet on a regular basis throughout the year to conduct AEMA business. Periodically, Board of Director meetings and committee meetings are open to all AEMA members for attendance. Once a year, AEMA holds its Annual General Meeting to review the past year’s activities and to induct its new Officers and Board of Directors into the association. We encourage associate members to run for a position on the AEMA Board of Directors. As a Board member, members are granted the right to vote.
